Join guided swims and cold dips with a local SwimOP organizer. Explore the harbour, Toronto Island, and carefully chosen low E. coli spots — safely, confidently, and year-round.
SwimTO is a guided open water experience in the heart of Toronto. In warmer months, we swim in the harbour and out toward Toronto Island. As the temperature drops, we shift to safe, short cold-water immersions and dips for those curious about winter swimming.
You’ll be swimming with a host who has organized swims with SwimOP for over five years and knows the micro-conditions of the waterfront — including where E. coli readings tend to stay lowest.
Explore some of the main swim entry points we use around Toronto, including sheltered basins, sandy beaches, and rocky spits.
SwimTO and SwimOP have been featured for transforming neglected corners of Toronto’s waterfront into cleaner, safer places to swim — especially where E. coli readings stay within safe limits thanks to ongoing community work and monitoring.
The Canadian Press captured winter swimmers at Ontario Place and along Toronto’s waterfront, highlighting the growing community of urban cold-water swimmers and the work behind keeping these spots accessible.
View galleryCBC documented how a garbage-choked basin along Queens Quay was turned into a swimmable spot through citizen-led cleanup efforts and ongoing water quality awareness — a key SwimOP / SwimTO location.
Before each session, we check conditions, wind, and recent water quality reports. We favour locations with historically lower E. coli readings and clear entry/exit points.
This is an experience for confident swimmers and curious beginners alike. Cold dips are brief, supervised, and fully optional — you choose your level of immersion.
This experience involves optional open-water swimming and cold-water immersion. Conditions can vary, so we always check weather, wind, and recent water quality before entering. I’ll guide you through safe entry and exit and you can choose your comfort level—there is no pressure to swim far or stay in long. Participants should feel comfortable around water and be able to manage their own physical limits. If at any point you feel too cold or uncomfortable, we exit immediately. Please bring warm layers, water shoes, and anything you need to stay safe and comfortable after the swim. By joining, you acknowledge the natural risks of outdoor swimming and agree to follow all safety instructions during the experience.
